Lihou Island, the westernmost point of the Channel Islands, has a rich history shaped by its strategic location and natural beauty.

Linked to Guernsey by a tidal causeway, the island has been home to a Benedictine priory in the 12th century and later a farmhouse, which was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in the 1960s as the house seen today.

The surrounding Guernsey headland has long been fortified, with defensive structures dating back to the Napoleonic era and German fortifications from the island’s occupation in World War II.

Today, Lihou Island and its house serve as a retreat for visitors, offering a peaceful escape steeped in history, with the causeway revealing its path only at low tide.
