Lihou Island Priory, located on the small tidal island of Lihou off the coast of Guernsey, was established in the 12th century by Benedictine monks.

Dedicated to St. Mary, the priory served as a religious retreat and place of worship until its dissolution during the Reformation in the 16th century.

Though now in ruins, remnants of the priory’s walls and foundations still stand, offering a glimpse into its medieval past. Archaeological excavations have revealed evidence of monastic life, including pottery and fishponds used by the monks.

Today, Lihou Island and its historic priory remain a site of cultural and ecological significance, attracting visitors seeking history and natural beauty.
